A few common questions. Have more? Get in touch.
How is this different from other weight-loss programs?
The difference comes down to who's actually looking after you. A dedicated doctor who reads your file before you meet and sees you for 60–90 minutes the first time; a medical team that checks in weekly at the start; labs drawn in our clinic; and body composition, strength, and measurements taken in person every month. Medication, when your doctor decides it's appropriate, is one part of the plan — never the whole of it.
What does the program fee cover?
The relationship and the time: your dedicated doctor and the medical team for six months — the first consultation, monthly visits, weekly check-ins for the first eight weeks, nutrition guidance, the monthly measurements, and full TejoMed membership during the program. There is a one-time onboarding fee when your nurse onboarding is booked, and the monthly fee starts on the day of your first doctor consult. Labs and any medication are billed separately; labs are often reimbursable through your insurance. We go through the full costs on the call, and nothing is charged before that conversation.
Do you prescribe weight-loss medication?
Our doctors may prescribe medication when it is clinically indicated for an individual patient. Eligibility is assessed in consultation, based on your health history, BMI, and safety profile. Not everyone has an indication, and many patients follow our non-medication track. Any prescription is dispensed by a pharmacy of your choice and is not included in the program fee.
Do you accept insurance?
TejoMed works alongside insurance. The program fee is not covered by insurance — like membership, it pays for the things insurance typically doesn't: a dedicated doctor, time, and direct access. Your insurance may be used for labs and, where your plan allows, medication.
How quickly can I get started?
After you get in touch, a TejoMed advisor will reach out within one business day. If it feels like the right fit, we book your 30-minute onboarding with the nurse; your doctor reviews your file within two business days; you come in for one morning of labs and measurements; and you see your doctor for 60–90 minutes. We aim for within a few weeks of the call.
What if the doctor decides the program isn't right for me?
It can happen, at the file review or at your first consult. If so, your onboarding fee is credited in full toward TejoMed membership (or your next renewal, if you're already a member). No monthly program fee has been charged at that point, and you keep your history, your baseline measurements, your lab results, and a doctor who now knows you.
Is this program for me?
It's for adults with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, prediabetes, high cholesterol, sleep apnoea, or PCOS. Your labs and monthly measurements happen in our clinic; the rest can be in person or by video. A short form before your call tells you whether the program is likely to be the right first step; your doctor decides every case. If it isn't the right first step, our team will talk you through other ways we can help, including membership with your own doctor.
