What happens in the free call with the nurse?
Fifteen minutes by phone or video, at no cost. Your nurse listens to what brings you here and what you have tried, explains how Lightstep works and what your doctor decides, and tells you plainly what it costs. Ask anything. Nothing to fill in first, and no pressure to go further. If you decide to join, your nurse shows you how.
Who is Lightstep for?
Adults in Portugal who want medical weight loss with a doctor who decides and a nurse who stays in touch. It is probably for you if you have tried diet after diet and the weight came back, you want a doctor to decide your treatment rather than a form, you want someone who answers when you need it, or you are already on treatment and nobody is following you. As a guide, your doctor considers medical treatment from a BMI of 30, or from 27 with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure. Already on treatment and below those numbers? That is expected: tell your nurse. Your doctor confirms whether Lightstep, and any treatment, are right for you. A prior medical assessment is always required.
Will I have my own nurse?
Yes. You meet your nurse on the free call and again at your first video visit. Your nurse calls you in the first weeks, then checks in regularly by phone, video or email, gets to know you and helps you understand your plan. Your doctor leads medical decisions. When your nurse is away, a covering nurse takes over with a proper handover. Replies come in business hours. For emergencies, call 112.
What care and support are included?
Doctor appointments, your own nurse, regular check-ins and answers to your treatment questions, with no charge per visit, per call or per message. You start with your first nurse visit and your doctor’s consultation with your results in hand. After that, your nurse calls you in the first weeks and checks in regularly, and your doctor reviews your progress. Extra nurse contact and doctor appointments are included whenever your weight treatment needs them.
Can I see a doctor between scheduled appointments?
Yes. Extra doctor appointments are included whenever your weight treatment needs them, with no fee per visit. Tell your nurse what is going on, and your team arranges the right next step. Your doctor leads medical decisions.
Are medication, labs or a smart scale included?
No. Medication and laboratory tests are paid separately. Your nurse tells you the usual cost range on the call, so there are no surprises. A prescription is considered only when clinically appropriate. You can enter your weight by hand in Compass. A smart scale or an in-clinic body-composition assessment can be arranged separately. How does payment work, and can I cancel?
€99 a month, from the day you join. It renews monthly, and you can cancel at any time for the end of the month you have paid. Not for you? Tell us in your first month and we refund it. Refunded too if your doctor says no. Payment does not guarantee eligibility or a prescription.
What if my doctor says no?
Sometimes Lightstep is not right for someone, for example during pregnancy. Then your doctor tells you plainly, and we refund the fees you have paid and cancel any payments still due. Lab tests you paid for separately are not covered. This is a medical decision and does not promise a prescription or a result.
Do I need to come to the clinic?
No. Your calls, visits and consultations are by phone or video, anywhere in Portugal. Lab tests are done at a laboratory near you. Our clinic is behind the whole programme, and the doctors and nurses on this page are the team looking after you.
I’m already on treatment. Can I join?
Often, yes. Many people started treatment elsewhere and have nobody following them. Tell your nurse on the call. Your doctor reviews your history and your results and decides, with you, whether and how to take over your care. Moving from another country? How is this different from TejoMed concierge medicine?
TejoMed concierge medicine gives you your own family doctor for your wider health. Your doctor looks after a small number of patients, giving you more time together, easier contact and a relationship that grows over time. Membership includes preventive care, an annual health assessment, sick visits, in-person and online appointments, and an urgent line.
Lightstep focuses that personal approach on your treatment and progress, with a doctor leading your plan and a dedicated nurse supporting you. Concierge care is a separate membership.
Do you help with food and nutrition?
Yes, as part of your care. Your doctor and your nurse advise you on eating: what to change, what to keep, what to do on the harder days, and how to adjust as your treatment goes on. It is built into your plan and your check-ins, not sold as extra visits. Separate nutrition appointments and custom meal plans are not included.
